Actor’s Forum

What it actually does

A reading list, not another forum

Nothing here replaces the forums. It just means you stop opening four tabs to find out whether any of them had anything for you today.

Every forum in one column

Newest first, whichever board it came from. The source is on every row, so you always know whose house you are about to walk into.

Read it once

The same thread cross-posted to three boards is one row here, not three.

Titles first

A headline and the opening lines. Enough to judge it, short enough to skim fifty.

Then you leave

Every row opens the real thread on the real forum. The conversation belongs to them.

Kept current

Newest post in the feed: Aug 27.

Where it comes from

Four boards doing the talking

We do not host a single one of these conversations, and we would not want to. This is a table of contents for other people's forums.

Reddit

r/acting and the rest of it, where the honest answers usually are.

Backstage

The trade board. Industry questions, and the occasional argument about them.

Stage 32

Crew and creatives as well as actors, so the questions come from every side of a set.

Smaller and quieter, which is often where a question actually gets answered.

Questions

The short version

Do I need an account?

Not to read. The feed is open. An account exists so you can keep the posts you liked and stop being shown the ones you did not, and that is all it is for.

Is this a forum?

No, and deliberately not. There is nowhere here to reply. Every row links to the thread on the board that hosts it, and the conversation happens there, in front of the people who were already having it.

Why not just read the forums?

You still should. This is for the part before that: working out whether any of the four had something for you today without opening four tabs to find out.

Are you taking their content?

A title, an opening excerpt and a link back. Nothing here is readable in full without going to the source, and the pages carry a noindex so they are not competing with the forums in search.

How current is it?

Posts arrive as the forums publish them, newest first. There is no editing, no ranking and no promoted anything: if it is at the top it is because it is the most recent.

What does it cost?

Nothing. There is no paid tier and nothing to upgrade to.
