We're working on our first scripted podcast series (a murder mystery series) and are looking for a female co-lead to play a strong-willed small town sheriff. The show is in the same vein as the TV show Bones, or other scripted podcasts like Limetown. The full series script has been written, and we can share the entire thing once an NDA is signed with the actor. She's a bit jaded by people dying, but overall friendly. However, when the other co-lead, a new coroner, tries to overstep his bounds, the sheriff has a fiery, "take charge" temper. She's great at her job, and doesn't let anyone think otherwise. Her motivations: * Wants to solve the crimes and protect her fellow townspeople * Is skeptical of the new coroner and not afraid to stand up for herself or even boss him around - he works for her **We are looking for an actress with a mature-sounding voice (30+), and the ability to take charge of a conversation. Being passionate about the role/production is important to us. See below for details.** ​ You will obviously been given full credit for the role in the outro of each episode, as well as a headshot and bio on our website. ​ The show will be listed on all major podcasting apps, including Spotify, iTunes, etc. ​ **Contract & payment** As I mentioned in the title, we want this to be a revenue share with the cast. Percentages will be discussed and agreed upon individually with each member, with more prominent roles obviously getting a higher percentage. We can also do an up front payment of $100. ​ *This role is not for someone who is looking to make a quick buck.* The series will span 3 full seasons (airing 2019-2020), and we expect all cast to be available to perform through the entire production. The Sheriff's "air time" in the first season is approximately 2 hour's worth of scenes, but we anticipate the actual recording / readings to take at least 4 hours. The recording does NOT need to be done in a single sitting. Each episode is only about 15 minutes. We do, however, plan on recording soon. **Our monetization plan is through ad revenue, and a mixture of Patreon support with show merchandise.** ​ (As a note, I realize that this is an underpaid position based on the flat fee for the amount of work. That's why we're doing the revenue share. Based on market data, we anticipate making at least a few hundred dollars per month with the show, even when not airing - to then split. When I decided that I wanted to pursue acting, I knew what I was signing up for, not to get my hopes up, and to just do my best. However, I still can't help but feel disappointed in myself. I did my first ever audition with a monologue I prepared ("idiosyncrasies" scene from Good Will Hunting) and had a long time actor friend coach me for a couple days, and I was cast in the ensemble. For those curious I got cast as Hopkins in The Crucible. Apparently getting cast after my first audition, even in something minor, is something to be proud of. But, despite loving this musical (Little Shop of Horrors), I've never auditioned for one before and had no idea what to expect. There was an initial dance portion that I don't feel I did terrible on, but definitely messed up with. Then there was a reading portion and my nerves made me mess up a line. I didn't stop and make it apparent I messed up, but they knew I'd split the line two. To make matters even worse, out of the 30 or so people there, he went around and talked with everyone briefly about their experience, and that's when I found out I was the freshest actor there. EVERYONE else had years of experience and numerous shows under their belts. I'm definitely not getting my hopes up for this one, but can't help but feel totally defeated nonetheless.

Hey everyone! I'm a mid 20's, female, LA based actor. I wanted to get you quick opinion on something. I am a VERY empathetic person, and when I act this comes out a lot PHYSICALLY. I'm very touchy feely. I don't even know I'm doing it until I'm already doing it. Rubbing backs, hand on knee, playing with hair, etc. Guy or girl, doesn't matter. Obviously I don't do this in a sexual way, but more of a nurturing/empathetic gesture, whether the script is heavy material or it's a light comedy. If I'm in the moment, I just naturally touch people without realizing it. ​ Is this bad? Would this make you feel uncomfortable? Does the everyday actor realize that I'm just acting and embodying the character? I feel like its more awkward if I pre-warn my scene partner that I may touch them, haha. I had one dude ask me out after we wrapped, cause he thought I was sending him signals during our scene? I'd just like to get the opinion of the room. Would this make you uncomfortable? I know people can be weird about personal space, but do those walls come down when you're in a scene acting? Female/ Female. Female/Male. Id like to know you personal opinion on this.

If you are posting a DIY headshot for feedback, and not just a snapshot in order to get feedback on your age range/type/etc, it is advised that you do at least some basic research on what actor headshots look like--composition, framing, lighting. You will find a Google Image search for "actor headshots" to be very helpful for this. For what it's worth, the branding workshop at SAG-AFTRA recommends a five-year age range. That's inclusive, so for example 19-23, 25-29, 34-38, etc.

Hello! I’m an aspiring actor based in LA. I don’t have a ton of credits, but I have taken acting classes, done some extra work, some student film work, and am working on getting headshots and a reel. I’m also going to sign up for Central Casting soon. Right now I’m subscribed to backstage but don’t seem to have a lot of success finding roles or auditions. Is Actor’s Access any better/different? Would it be worth it to pay for both? Any advice would be appreciated

After I told him that I'm not into computer science(majoring cs), my dream is to become a comedy actor like Kevin Hart, JImmy o Yang, Key, and Pelee. But after I told my dad to measure my height, it crushed me completely. I am a super short Asian and I had no clue what to do to improve my chance. I need help! My boyfriend is an actor in LA and been there since May 2018. He’s been struggling a lot and feeling discouraged, especially right now. He’s in Hawaii for his best friend’s wedding later this week and missed 3 great opportunities all in one day. It’s just so unfortunate since nothing was happening in pilot season UNTIL he left LA. I feel super horrible and wanna help! He’s been talking about acting classes from UCB and they’re like $500. His manager and casting directors recommended it for connections and networking. It’s a little too pricy for me to gift him atm, but..Is there anything else I can gift him to boost his acting confidence? Other classes? Social events? Anything helps! TLDR; What LA acting classes (like UCB training centers) or acting material do you recommend for a struggling actor?

How to act Shakespear without sounding overdramatic by FabriVlogs  •  last post Feb 6th

My first language is Italian, although I have a very good english (you could tell English is not my mothertongue but it’s still very clear and I worked a lot on my accent) however I feel very confident when I act for camera, but when I have to do Shakespear I feel out of my shell and very uncomfortable in the way I’m delivering my lines. Sometimes it feels I’m completely missing what the character is feeling therefore I make no sense in what I say. When I do get what’s being said another wall comes shows up, and that’s the feeling that it feels “acted”. It feels like I’m shouting words out of my mouth and even if I put more pressure on one word more than the others in one sentence, I don’t feel it in my bones. But then I see actors like Ian McKellen and they do an amazing job, but I always miss what they are doing that I’m missing. Thank you for your attention I hope I made everything clear. TL;DR Just read the title basically.

Hi everyone, I need three male (London accented or if you can do a good impression) voice actors to record just around a minute of dialogue each for our new one-off 19th century set audiodrama ‘Fading Down The River’, all about the final voyage of the HMS Temeraire I can also drop £10 each into your paypal account as thanks, if I chose you for one of the three characters. The three characters I need all interact with the Captain of a Tug Boat. 1. First we have ‘Jack’ who is trying to fix ‘Tugger’ with the Captain in the engine room. They are trying to talk over the engine sounds in this hot environment. Jack is a hardworking and keen member of the boat crew. Needs to have a working class east-London accent. Should sound around 18-35 years in age. \- Audition Line: ***She could still pull us all the way to Brunel’s yard Skipper. We’re not that far off…*** 2. Next we have ‘Isambard Kingdom Brunel’ the very famous civil engineer. He meets the Captain at his shipyard, and agrees to fix ‘Tugger’. Any London accent (not posh though) will do here, but I need Brunel to sound confident and in control but still warm hearted. He needs to sound middle aged. \- Audition Line: ***I see you’ve brought Tugger with you, and who’s this other fine beauty? Is it possible? It is! The Temeraire! Well, I’ll be…*** 3. Lastly we have Beatson, owner of the shipbreakers yard. Again any London accent will do (not posh) He needs to sound businesslike, confident and in control, yet is more concerned with the bottom line, rather than a romantic attachment to the ships (unlike Brunel) He needs to sound middle aged. \- Audition Line: ***Too many breakdowns and we can’t expect a free fix every time. So I’ve got a new ship on order, should be here by Christmas. Anyway, can’t spend all day chatting. Got another job for you. Time don’t stand still you know.*** The audition is open until the 10th of February. You can send and label the lines in whatever format works best for you (I’m not fussy about that type of thing for auditions). You will need to have a good quality mic and recording setup though, so your audio fits in with what we’ve already recorded. so I'm 20 and have been acting since I was 6. I'm a semi-working actor. I have a few plays, a short film, a student film, and countless days of extra work on my resume. Things have been pretty slow acting wise. I just haven't been getting any auditions. I work in retail during the day, and attend community college at night, and I'm super sad when not acting in some way. I recently worked as a Stand-in for a film, just for some extra money, and man was I happy. I can't explain the joy I feel when I'm on a film set, or in a theater. It's where I'm truly happy. I just want to act. But I then go back to my regular job, or my school, and I can't help but feel depressed. My heart is elsewhere, but it's tough to be a full time actor. Any advice? How do you stay positive and hopeful about future success? m
