Hello fellow actors! I've just released an app (https://runlines.me) to run lines with Amazon's Alexa. She's like a (very) patient friend who helps out if you forget a line or get it wrong. Works with an Amazon Echo or with the free Alexa mobile app. I'd love for you to try it out and give me some feedback. There will be bugs and it might not be as intuitive as it should be yet, so please be a bit forgiving while I fix and improve with your help! Thanks!

Hello, and thanks for taking the time to read my post. So lately I've been really itching to act, as the last time I did was in high school, and only stopped because I hated my teacher. I'm planning on getting some training (by the way, would a 3-day intensive course count as training?) but right now I've just been going through local theatre auditions. The issue is, I feel like I would be way out of my league with a lot of the auditions I'm seeing, and don't really know where to start. Any advice?

I’ve always been of the opinion of if it’s not acting, it doesn’t belong on an acting resume. However, I’ve now done 3 large shows in which I stood in for the 1 or the 2 and worked with some pretty well respected DOPs for big studios. I’ve learned so much, from the technical aspect of acting, to working with Oscar and Tony winning actors. Not to mention understanding how a set works and set etiquette. What’s your stance on adding this to my resume?

I have money saved. I want to move to LA, take classes, and get going in acting. I can find work waiting tables. The only missing piece is finding a roof to live under. Obviously finding roommates is the way to go. Are there any underground channels for actors/artists to find each other to share living spaces?

Hi so my ex was an actor as well right, and she hurt me pretty hard and we had a messy breakup. We hurt each other. She texted me the other day asking to meet up. I don’t want to, I want nothing to do with her. I’m worried though- that we’ll run into each other in acting projects, auditions, that she’ll make a billion dollars as a famous actor and I’ll be riddled with jealously or regret. Do any of you have any insight on my situation? I’m sorry for the unique question I’m sure this isn’t asked here much.

A lot of beginning actors ask about agents, and the common answers tell them to take a class first, and do a bunch of student/indie films. I’m at a stage in my life where I am regularly submitting and auditioning for low/no pay roles and have a pretty full resume. However, I’ve only ever worked non-union jobs, and all the credits on my resume don’t have any recognizable names or titles. I do have a professional headshot and reel. Is this at the point where I should look for an agent? Should I get myself into the union first (most likely by trying to do more background work)?

Hello all, I recently auditioned for a musical (Into the Woods) for the first time since I was in middle school in 2009. I was invited to the callback (I still got it) but I noticed there was a segment in the call back announcement that said "The actors below are still in consideration for casting but are not needed at Sunday's callback". Is this a normal thing? Are they regulars at that theater and not needed to be evaluated again or something? Just a little confused is all.

Hi All! I produced a feature called Loners and we've been hit by trolls, drastically reducing our IMDb rating (not star rating, but the __ out of 10 stars people give after watching). These jerks go through rating everything extremely low and because they rate so much, IMDb's algorithm gives them more weight. So we had 100 ratings with a 6.5 weighted average (even after getting 13 1's by trolls) and with three low ratings from these jerks we went down to a 4.8 overnight. Now when anyone goes to our Amazon page they see that rating. So we need to get it up! Anyone want to trade ratings with me? Something between a 7-9 (I don't think 10's are very good for improving the weighted rating). I've also rated a bunch of films, so my rating is worth more in their algorithm. Thanks! I'm just kind of starting out as a hobby, building a reel, and having some fun. I'm just learning the ropes. I have really enjoyed messing with HitREcord and Behind The Voice Actors, but there are not a ton of projects out there at any given time. Where else can I link up with amateur animators, game devs, filmmakers, etc. who might need voice talent for their projects?
