You Can Script the PR, But Can You Script the Body? A Look at the Baldoni Video by Catherine James  •  last post Jul 9th

Hey everyone. I wanted to get your thoughts on this from a directing, acting, and PR perspective.

Justin Baldoni recently released a video statement regarding the legal situation with Blake Lively. As filmmakers and actors, we spend our lives studying human behavior, subtext, and body language. When watching his video, I noticed something interesting about his non-verbals.

When he explicitly denies the allegations and asserts that the "truth" prevailed, he breaks eye contact, looks away, and closes his eyes.

I’m curious how you all read this:
Is it a genuine reflection of emotional exhaustion and trauma?
Or is it a subconscious distancing mechanism? In behavioral analysis (and when directing actors), closing the eyes is often viewed as a "tell" when someone’s words don't fully align with their internal reality.

There is also the crisis PR element to consider. Baldoni leans heavily into the narrative of justice because the most explosive claims were dismissed. But the reality of our industry's PR machine is that a dismissal just means the claims didn't meet a rigorous legal burden of proof. It doesn't mean the impropriety never happened—especially considering several of Lively's other claims did survive before their quiet out-of-court settlement.

When public figures enter crisis mode, they carefully script their words. But they can't always script their bodies.

What is your read on this as industry professionals? When evaluating a highly calculated statement, do you put more weight on the legal outcome, the spoken words, or the body language?

(Note: You can find the video on his Instagram posted on July 8th).

How do i achieve this kinda comforting voice? by Alternative-Hurry443  •  last post Jul 9th

I came across a Minecraft video on Instagram where the creator has an incredibly calm, slow, comforting narration style. It's not dramatic or overly energetic. It feels very natural, almost like someone quietly telling you a story, and it's really relaxing to listen to. I'd love to learn how to speak like that. Is there a specific name for this type of voice or narration style? Are there any voice actors, YouTubers, or coaches I should study? I'm also looking for practical advice. How can I train my voice to sound calmer, smoother, and more comforting? Are there breathing exercises, speaking techniques, or daily practice routines that helped you? I'd really appreciate any tips, resources, or examples. Thanks!

Hi! I'm looking for three voice actors for my fantasy-soulslike indiegame. $200 per VA. 2M, 1F by Torchlight_Games  •  last post Jul 9th

I'm looking for **three voice** actors to voice multiple characters in a soulslike with a somber fantasy atmosphere. For each voice, both american or british accent are fine, but preferably a weak or no accent. Deadline for auditions is **August 2nd.** The base rate for this project is **$200 per VA.** (Recording should take about 1 hour) However, if your personal rate is higher, please indicate so in your audition. **VA1, Physician of Birth:** I am looking for a male voice (sounding 30-60 years old). The Physician is sick. He coughs and retches a lot. His sanity has started to go, but he is still holding on. His craziness and sickness is contrasted by being very polite. The Physician of Birth needs 64 lines totalling to about 6 minutes of dialogue. **VA2, Villager & Immortal Child:** I am looking for a male voice (sounding 20-50 years old). The villager is simple minded, selfish and throws tantrums if things don’t go his way. He has a deep voice that has a dumbish nature to it. The Immortal Child has a low booming voice and speaks in simple and short sentences. Even though it's a large creature, there is a child-like nature to it. The Villager & Immortal Child need 95 lines totalling to about 8 minutes of dialogue. **VA3, Devout:** I am looking for a female voice (sounding 60-90 years old) The devout is an old hag that is bitter, but hides her bitterness through sarcastic remarks and hag-like laughs. The Devout needs 85 lines totalling to about 7 minutes of dialogue. **If you are interested, I'd love to hear your audition or any questions you may have. You can find the full casting call here:** [**https://docs.google.com/document/d/16I1fnh33GRpAfD05eDnzBaT6RPYfbF\_thE0X68nYEGQ/edit?usp=sharing**](https://docs.google.com/document/d/16I1fnh33GRpAfD05eDnzBaT6RPYfbF_thE0X68nYEGQ/edit?usp=sharing)

Favorite and least favorite thing about being an actor by Suzanne Bronson  •  last post Jul 8th

I love getting to play different roles, living lives I would never get to. Being on stage or set is such a high. My least favorite part is the uncertainty of not knowing when the next job is, sometimes the hustle is more exhausting than the actual job. What about you?
